About this blog:

On May 20, 2000, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree from DePauw University. And what better way to celebrate selling my soul to the University of Wisconsin graduate school than by spending five weeks in Europe? Since Europe is allegedly riddled with these "cyber-cafés," I plan to update this travel weblog as often as possible to let loved ones know how i'm doing, and what they're missing. I'll periodically check my email from over there, too, so drop me a line.

June 21 - July 25, 2000... This is a repository of the thoughts and musings I maintained on a weblog for family and friends during my summer backpacking trip through France, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy in the summer of 2000. It was the summer between my undergrad and graduate school careers. I had just received about $1,000 in graduation gift money, and saved up about $2,000 from my summer job -- a freelance web-design gig for a company called ACS. When the gig was up, I found that I had about a month and a half of nothing to do, $3,000 in the bank, and no guarantees that I could ever do this again. So off I went...
